A few questions about fimo...? *10 POINTS*?
1. Can you pain fimo
2. Does nail varnish work to give it a glossy finish or what will work?
3. Do you know how to make a keyring with fimo
4. Do you know how to make pencil toppers with fimo?
5. Do you know any panda crafts with fimo you can do?
If you answer these i will give you 10 points. If you answer at least 2 of these i will give you a thumbs up.
1. Yes, you can paint polymer clay (Fimo, and other brands). Read this previous message about doing that and where at my site to get loads more info on it:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Atdjs7604oVnOhqsimgnGv8jzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20090826213840AAJvgd5 (my answer there)
http://glassattic.com/polymer/paints.htm
...click mostly on Preparing the Clay... and on Acrylics
2. Nail varnish works fine *as long as* it's water-based (acrylic), not petroleum-solvent based. Unfortunately, it's not always obvious whether a particular polish is one or the other, though sometimes the "bad" ones call themselves "enamel." Any intended for acrylic nails will work though, and I happen to know that the Maybelline Wet 'n Shine is good and in fact gives a very shiny look.
Many other clear liquids work on polymer clay too. Check the Finishes page of my site (a polymer clay "encyclopedia") to read about all those:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/finishes.htm
3. Check these pages... basically you'd attach some kind of loop to or in the top of the clay "fob" (see first link), then attach the non-key ring end to the loop (maybe some examples in the second link, or look for "fan pulls" which would be similar)... or you could perhaps embed that end into the key directly:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/pendants_cording.htm
...click on the category Top Loops, and on the subcategories below that
4. Check these pages for some tutorials and ideas:
http://www.sculpey.com/Projects/projects_EC%20Creatures.htm
http://www.sculpey.com/teacherslounge.htm
and perhaps http://glassattic.com/polymer/pens.htm
5. You could make 3-D sculpted pandas small or large, then use them for jewelry, dioramas, just little sculpts, etc... or make canes with a panda image in them then use for jewelry or "covering" something, etc... or so many things.
If you just mean "how do you make a small 3-D panda with polymer clay?," look at the projects at sculpey.com... or check out this page:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/kids_beginners.htm
or maybe http://glassattic.com/polymer/sculpture.htm
(If you want to know almost anything about all the ways polymer clay can be used, plus the basics of brands, baking, finishing, conditioing, etc., check out the Table of Contents page for my site, then go to any page you find interesting using the alphabetical navigation bar on the left:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/contents.htm )

One of the most interesting additions to nail art technology in recent years has been the advent of Nail Art Canes. fimo canes are utilized for performing the nail art. Nail Art Canes designing is made by applying a clear coat of fingernail polish and then by Placing a thin slice of Designer Cane where desired while clear coat nail polish is still wet. After it is let dry, further applying is done with one or two more coats of clear nail polish over nail and Cane slices. Designer Canes are hand made one at a time out of polymer clay. The polymer clay is layered in different colors creating the design that runs through the cane. After careful building the Designer Cane is very carefully stretched and baked. Designer Canes are fun and easy to work with. Enjoy using them in rubber stamping, and other paper crafts, beading and jewelry, miniatures, doll making, and any other craft projects.
